Not all weddings require a wedding suit. A wedding suit, however, does boost the position of the groom in some weddings. While the general focus is on the bride and what she intends to wear, a good wedding suit will make sure that the groom is not shabby either.
The need for a wedding suit
Though a wedding suit can definitely transform the groom and the rest of the male entourage into romantic figures, there are weddings that are much too casual to require a wedding suit. If you are not the groom, and are quite unsure if you have to wear a wedding suit or not, study your invitation. Your invitation will specify if the wedding is strictly formal, semi-formal, or casual. Some invitations will also directly point out what you should wear. A couple having a beach wedding will most likely not require you to wear a wedding suit. For weddings that are formal or semi-formal, a wedding suit may differ in style, depending on the time of the day the wedding is to be held.
What a wedding suit must reflect
A wedding suit must give the groom and the rest of the male entourage a dignified, but romantic air. Remember that it is a wedding suit and not a business suit. So, it must not look like something that you would wear to the office. Wearing a wedding suit, which also doubles as a business suit on ordinary days, destroys the special quality of the wedding. It also becomes any other suit, not really a wedding suit. The wedding suit for men must also complement the dresses the bride and the female entourage will be wearing. A wedding suit must properly fit into the wedding, going with the over-all theme that the bride and groom have chosen together.
Choosing the right wedding suit
A wedding suit for semi-formal celebrations is different from a wedding suit made for more formal, elegant celebrations. The time of the day the wedding is going to be held also affects the wedding suit style. For day-time weddings, the light-coloured suit is preferred. This is to stay away from the office look. If the wedding is semi-formal or even casual, you can use a dark-coloured blazer with matching slacks and neck tie. Finally, you have to be at your very best, dressed in a tuxedo, for formal or black-tie weddings to be held after 6 pm.
